PhoneGap

Phonegap is an interesting FrameWork for developing mobile applications for Android and other systems operating (Android, IOS, Palm, Symbian, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile) using well known as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery Mobile technologies. The resulting applications are not really native applications to the device, but are not addressed either of web applications. These are packaged and deployed on the device and can work with the API of the system.

PhoneGap manages APIs that allow access to devices and sensors of the mobile or tablet such as the accelerometer, GPS, compass, camera, network, storage, notifications, etc.

Advantages:

• Is cross-platform: Android, Iphone, Ipad, Palm, Symbian, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile
• In comparison to the native development it is much easier to create a mobile application since you can use HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and jQuery Mobile experience.
• There is much documentation.
• It is free.

Disadvantages:

• It is necessary to have a Mac to develop IOS (this also happens with the development of native applications).
• It has the same performance that a native application that HTML, CSS and Javascript should be interpreted by the engine of the browser every time starts.
